Google Digital Garage is a fantastic resource for a wide array of subjects all with the aim of teaching future-proof skills, from short courses in professional networking to beginners’ guides on public speaking and all the way to a 40+ hour digital marketing certificate. Google Digital Garage has courses provided by universities from all over the world, from Yale to The Open University, as well as having courses from amazing remote learning specialists and even Google themselves. A vast majority of the courses come with digital certification, meaning that once completed you can add a certificate to your CV or LinkedIn that is 100% verifiable.

LinkedIn Learning
LinkedIn Learning is an amazing platform with some great features built-in. The platform has existed in one form or another for around 20 years, and because of this, it has over 17,000 courses in varying subjects that are used by around 700 million users in more than 200 countries. The platform allows a user to learn at their own pace, gives them the option for offline viewing and allows certificates and achievements to be shared on their LinkedIn profile. One disadvantage is that it only has one month free. On the other hand, the skill quizzes built into LinkedIn allow you to stand out to recruiters and even cause LinkedIn to prioritise you for certain roles over candidates that haven’t completed the quizzes.

Adobe Education Exchange
Adobe Education Exchange is a free tool provided alongside Adobe’s Creative Cloud. The platform provides teaching resources for a wide array of subjects, as well as self-learning courses on how to use Adobe CC products, such as Premiere Pro, Photoshop and Acrobat. These resources paired with the many 1000s of YouTube tutorials would make a great starting point for anyone looking to go into a creative career, or just simply interested in gaining creative skills.

Open Learn
Open Learn is a free learning tool provided by The Open University, which has been a global leader in remote and part-time learning since its creation. The service provides free, self-teaching courses in a range of subjects from Languages, to Business all the way to art courses. There are many benefits to Open Learn. Firstly, its flexibility. Open Learn allows you to start your course whenever, and finish your course whenever, there are no time limits allowing for totally self-led learning. As well as this, The OU provides a “Statement of participation” which in any other terms is a certificate, showing what courses you have completed.

The National Careers Service is an official government service that brings together a wide range of free learning resources all together onto one site. The service has courses in English, Maths, Digital Skills and Finance just to name a few, all of which are provided by reputable sources, such as Barclays Bank, Rolls Royce, IBM and Pearson.
